The Wonderland Series
About Michel LaCroix
My first novel written as Michel LaCroix, Alex in Wonderland, was published in 2006 by Haworth Press. Set in New Orleans, it was inspired by Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City and those wacky screwball comedies from the ’30s. It follows the adventures of Alex Sumner, an uptown, uptight rich kid searching for identity in the freewheeling downtown French Quarter. Along the way, Alex encounters a host of zany characters and embarks on a journey I like to call “fabulously facile.”
Alex in Wonderland was an official selection of the Insight Out Book Club and nominated for a Violet Quill Award. Happily, the book was such a hit that a sequel followed in 2007, Through with the Looking Glass, which dealt with Hurricane Katrina. These two books morphed into the Wonderland series a.k.a. The Alexander Quartet, with the publication of Down the Rabbit Hole in 2011, and Curiouser and Curiouser in 2013.
Is this really the end of the line for Alex & Company? I don’t know myself!
